Real market prices are the strongest data there is. This program collects anonymous, aggregated quote records so everyone can see what solar actually costs in their area — not what marketing says it costs.

This empty state is deliberate: we will not publish invented “real” quotes. The dataset begins with genuine submissions — yours can be the first.

Document-verified means the numbers were checked against an uploaded quote document — it endorses the numbers, never the installer or product quality. No names, no addresses, no PII — ever.

What we collect

State (or 3-digit ZIP prefix — never full ZIP, never address)
System size (kW), gross cash price, calculated $/W
Panel and inverter models, battery size (optional)
Financing type and dealer fee if disclosed
An optional anonymized upload to verify numbers

Privacy rules (non-negotiable)

No names, emails, phone numbers, addresses or full ZIPs are ever published.
Aggregates only below a minimum sample size per market (we won’t publish a “state median” from one quote).
Records are voluntary and deletable on request.
Submitted data may not be sold; installers can never pay to have records removed or added.

Why this is a long game

One quote tells you nothing; a thousand quotes tell the truth. As the database grows, it will power the SolarEnergyPrices Index (state medians, financing-premium tracker, battery $/kWh index) — published with sample sizes and methodology, never from invented data. Until then, the state medians on this site are estimates compiled from public marketplace and NREL data (see methodology), clearly labeled as such.
